George Brown College School of Business Co-operative Education Program

Take advantage of the opportunity to hire a Co-Op student from the postgraduate Strategic Relationship Marketing Program at George Brown College. These students are a highly motivated and talented group who have been taking courses in MS Office (focusing on Access and Excel and SQL), marketing management, database marketing strategy (including LTV and RFM), personal selling and presentations and market research.

They are interested in careers in relationship marketing including marketing analysis, market research and direct/database marketing. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, work experience and skill sets- from the fields of economics, information technology, sociology, business management, mathematics, English and many other types of degrees - so you may find a student with a really good skill match for your company.

Details:

These 4-month co-op work terms
require exposure to their field of study in a business environment and begin in May and January. The students require at least 360 hours of work over a 10-16 week period to gain a credit. They earn generally from $8 to $20 an hour, which is paid either as an honorarium or as part of a regular payroll. The payment and the schedule requirements are often very flexible.

One benefit of “partnering” with George Brown College is an early access to talent. By offering regular co-op job opportunities you have exposure to these students at lower acquisition costs and then potentially have the opportunity to take them on full time after they graduate. Employers are able to establish a planned strategy for internal training and growth without risk or long-term commitment. Additionally, they will find that the time and effort put into helping these students acquire supplementary workplace skills will pay significant dividends down the road for the employer and the relationship marketing industry.

Another benefit of the Co-op Program at George Brown is that the Ontario Government has a tax credit program which may provide your business with up to $1000 in off setting tax credits for each co-op student’s salary per work term.
